Solomon A. Levin, Ph.D., in 1983, co-founded, with JoAnne E. Zangrillo, LICSW, their private practice providing the highest quality, comprehensive mental health care possible. He is a graduate of The Bronx High School of Science (1968), Stony Brook University (BA, cum laude, 1972), and The Ohio State University (MA, 1975; Ph.D., 1979). From 1971-1972, with the support of Stony Brook University, Dr. Levin was a visiting student in the Department of Medicine, affiliated with the Hospital for Sick Children and the Nuffield Child Psychiatry Unit at the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, England. Dr. Levin completed a pre-doctoral internship at the Judge Baker Children's Center, Boston, MA, in 1976. During this period, he was active in adult and child clinical psychology as a researcher and student. Since that time, Dr. Levin has been a research associate and Assistant Professor at Brandeis University (1979- 1983), a staff psychologist at the former South Shore Counseling Associates (1978-1982), a co-producer and live presenter at WFXT Fox 25, Boston, preparing and presenting topics that were pertinent to the field of psychology (2003-2004), and since his licensure in 1981, in private practice in the fields of adult, adolescent, and child clinical psychology.

Dr. Levin continues to administrate the Practice, along with providing direct clinical care to people in the MetroWest and South Shore communities. Now, with Telehealth as an established form of care, Dr. Levin can offer services to residents throughout Massachusetts. He sees adolescents, adults, couples and families. With the benefits of continuing education, Dr. Levin has expertise in, among others, the areas of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, men's and women's life-span issues, raising children (and children raising parents!), separation and divorce, work/life challenges, and the associated issues of depression, anxiety, substance abuse, Bipolar Disorder, and other diagnostic categories. Treatment approaches include that of Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Short-Term Therapy, longer term supportive therapy, and most importantly the pragmatic approach to emotional and behavioral improvement to enhance a person's or family's quality of life. Dr. Levin is knowledgeable about psychiatric medication, though Massachusetts does not credential psychologists to administer medication. Dr. Levin has also consulted with the Probate and Criminal Courts of Massachusetts in varying roles, including that of Guardian ad Litem and Expert Witness. Dr. Levin has performed over one hundred Guardian ad Litem child custody evaluations. He is a founding member of the Massachusetts Association of Guardians ad Litem, and is a member of both the Massachusetts and American Psychological Associations. Dr. Levin has also consulted with school systems and businesses in the Greater Boston and South Shore area. With permission, he is regularly in touch with physicians, teachers, family members, and others who may know his clients so that there is an ongoing coordination of care.

One of the phrases that guides Dr. Levin's approach to therapy is that we all want to be understood. To that end, he listens, evaluates, and only then offers feedback as to how he may be able to help. And, in spite of life's travails, he maintains a sense of perspective and humor. And respects the dignity of each and every person with whom he meets.
