Julie M. Guillemin, LICSW, has been dedicated to the care and treatment of children and their families for over fifteen years. A graduate of UMass Amherst (BA, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa,1993) and the Boston University School of Social Work, Boston, MA (MSW, 2000), Ms. Guillemin has earned licensure as both an Independent Clinical Social Worker as well as a School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and the Association for Play Therapy.
After her work in the legal field (1993-1997), Julie followed her passion for the care of children into her future career. She was a child care provider (1997-1998), a social work intern for Associated Day Care Services, Boston (1998-1999), a clinical and professional services intern at the Department of Mental Health, Boston (1999), and a social work intern transitioning to a full time counselor at the Cambridge Rindge & Latin School, Cambridge, MA (1999-2000). She later returned to the Department of Mental Health (2000), and then was a prevention specialist for the Revere Public Schools (2000-2006). Julie researched best practices for after school programs nationwide and in Massachusetts (2006), was a social work planner for the Western Schools, Behavioral Health Division, West Bridgewater, MA (2006-2008), and a school adjustment counselor for the Kingston Public Schools, Kingston, MA (2006-2009). In these varying positions, Julie always focused on children, adolescents, parents and families as a researcher, teacher, counselor, therapist, trainer, consultant and program developer.
Ms. Guillemin's therapeutic approach includes that of cognitive behavior therapy, play therapy, and psychodynamic techniques. She has authored continuing education courses for behavioral health professionals on various mental health topics including: Treating Explosive Kids, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in Children and Adults, and Schizophrenia. With Levin & Zangrillo, P.C., Julie treats children, adolescents, and adults for a wide range of therapeutic needs. She consults with parents on behalf of their children, and is constantly learning and applying best principal approaches to the care of her clients. With permission, Julie is in frequent contact with outside resources on behalf of her clients at our Practice. For Julie, trust within the professional relationship is the springboard from which she can apply her considerable skills, to which she has been dedicating herself now and into the future.
